Like a few of our sister resorts, The Highlands opened a new chairlift this winter – The Camelot 6. Pretty cool that not only are the chairs heated, each one features the 1st fully automatic safety bar system in the US. This week’s Boyne Basic focusses on ‘E’ – Excellence in Execution. Created by our sister mountain Boyne Mountain Resort, located in Boyne Falls Michigan, USA. Interesting to note that Boyne Mountain was the original mountain in the Boyne family of resorts and was co-developed by Everett Kircher, Jim Christianson and John Norton. The group purchased the site for $1(!) in 1948 from Michigan Senator William Pierson and opened it as a ski resort in 1949. Read more on the change curve here.

This week’s Boyne Basic focusses on ‘A’ – Attitude is Everything. Created by our sister mountain Brighton Resort, located in Brighton Utah, USA. Interesting to note that Brighton seems to receive some of the BIGGEST snow falls at one time, in all our family of Boyne resorts. It’s quite normal for them to receive over 30cms in a day. In the last few days, they’ve received 73cms (we’ve received a lot too in the past couple of days!!).
This week’s Boyne Basic focusses on ‘L’ – Long Term Thinking. Created by our sister resort Gatlinburg SkyPark, located in Gatlinburg Tennessee, USA. Everett Kircher (founder of Boyne Resorts) was approached in 1953 about opening an attraction in the Smokey mountains. He bought a chairlift in California, transported it to his home state of Michigan, re-engineered it and then had it moved to Gatlinburg. He opened the 1st chairlift in the South in 1954. Since then, it has been one of the most popular attractions in Gatlinburg. The chairlift is now 4th generation and most recently replaced in 2017. The suspension bridge at the top is decorated throughout the year – have a look at their Valentine’s lights called the ‘Tunnel of Love’. Check out the articles from the slide here; 1, 2, 3.

This week’s Boyne Basic focusses on ‘L’ – Long Term Thinking. Created by our closest sister resort, The Summit at Snoqualmie, located in the Snoqualmie Pass, Washington USA. The Summit has 4 different base areas (!), 25 chairlifts and is just a few hours’ drive south of us.
This week’s Boyne Basic focusses on ‘E’ – Excellence in Execution. Created by our sister resort Boyne Mountain, located just 40 mins south of The Highlands. Boyne Mountain is located in Boyne Falls Michigan, USA and is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year. Read Rachel Turner’s poster here.

This week’s Boyne Basic focusses on ‘D’ – Develop Great People. Created by our sister mountain Brighton Resort, located in Brighton Utah, USA. Check out their resort as well as their new 6 person chairlift (The Crest 6), which is also the fastest in Utah.
This week’s Boyne Basic/Core Value focusses on ‘E’ – Excellence in Execution. Created by our sister resort The Gatlinburg Sky Park, located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, USA. This attraction including the chairlift, along with many other attractions, businesses and homes were destroyed in the Smokey Mountain Wildfires of 2016. Since then, the community has re-built and become a mecca of outdoor activities and fun. Remember that as part of the Boyne Resorts family, we can visit our sister areas for free!
